    With measles outbreaks reported in five states, Broward County now has a reported case of the highly contagious disease.

    The Department of Health Broward said the local case is an adult who acquired measles from outside the United States. In alert to healthcare providers, the health department said the disease is spread through the air by breathing, coughing, or sneezing and can be spread four days before the first symptom appears. It is requesting measles testing for anyone who presents with a combination of symptoms...

    As measles spreads across the U.S., a second case of measles has been reported in Florida.

    The new case in Pinellas County occurred in an adult who traveled outside the United States to Cambodia. Florida?s second reported measles case in 2019 is in addition to the measles case in Broward County reported in March ? and adds to the total number of measles cases in the United States escalating weekly...

      Third measles case reported in Florida

      Pasco is the third county to report a measles case in Florida, according to the most recent numbers from the state health department.

      The two previous cases were reported in Broward and Pinellas counties, in March and April respectively. They involved Florida residents who were unvaccinated and acquired measles while visiting other countries....

        The Duval County health department has confirmed measles in an unvaccinated child with no history of international travel.

        This is the third measles case in Florida this year...

          Child with measles was brought to Wolfson Children's Hospital emergency room

          JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Action News Jax has learned that an unvaccinated child who was later found to have the measles was brought to Wolfson Children's Hospital emergency room.

          The Florida Department of Health on Friday confirmed one case of measles in a child who was not vaccinated in Duval County.

          Health officials told Action News Jax at that time, a local hospital reported the case and then they stepped in and started an investigation.

          Wolfson Children's Hospital released the following statement..
