NORTH STATE, Calif. - Butte County Public Health is investigating two confirmed cases of measles in adults who do not have documented histories of vaccinations against the virus. Also, Community Education Specialist Tim Mapes of the Shasta County Health & Human Services Agency said Sunday that the Shasta County measles case is related to cases in Butte And Tehama Counties and are considered to be part of cluster.
Both adults with confirmed measles in Butte County are past their infectious period and can no longer spread the illness to others, but the Butte County Public Health Department is working with Enloe Medical Center and other healthcare providers to identify individuals who might have had contact with the infected people while they were still contagious.
The Esplanade House at 181 E. Shasta Ave. in Chico has been identified as a possible location for public exposure during the period from March 15 through March 19, 2019. If you were at this location during this timeframe, you can call (530) 353-5564 to speak with Public Health officials on Sunday, March 24 until 5 p.m. and next Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The public contact and exposure investigation is still active. Additional exposure locations may be identified and announced in the future...
