    Two measles cases in Auckland spark warning for people who've been at two locations

    Two measles cases have been notified in Auckland, prompting health authorities to warn people who may have been exposed to the disease in three public locations to be alert to symptoms.

    Auckland Regional Public Health Service says the two separate cases of measles - an infant and a young adult - are not linked.

    The adult was at an event at the Life Central Church in Normanby Road, Mt Eden, on the evening of Wednesday March 6.

    People at the Wesley market in Mt Roskill on the morning of Friday March 8 may have also been exposed as the infant was at the International Women?s Day event there...

      The number of measles cases confirmed in Canterbury today remains at 28.

      Forty-seven cases of the measles had been confirmed in New Zealand this year as of yesterday, according to figures from the Immunisation Advisory Centre.

      The Canterbury outbreak made up the bulk of them with 28 confirmed cases while 12 had been reported in the Waikato, three in Auckland, two in the Bay of Plenty and one in both Counties Manukau and Otago.

      Seven people in Canterbury had been hospitalised and two needed treatment in the intensive care unit. The outbreak started on February 22.

      Canterbury medical officer of health Ramon Pink today said there had been no increase in confirmed cases in the last 24 hours. There were 12 possible cases under investigation...

        Measles outbreak: Number hits 30 in Canterbury

        The number of measles cases in Canterbury has risen to 30.

        Canterbury Medical Officer of Health Dr Ramon Pink said the number was continuing to rise with one other case under investigation.

        The total number of measles cases across the country has increased from 47 on Thursday to 50 today after two new cases in Canterbury and one in Auckland.

        The latest Auckland case was a first-year student at Auckland University who attended law and business lectures last week where they may have spread the disease...

          Measles warning for passengers on Auckland-bound flight

          Auckland health officials are trying to track down passengers on a plane which was carrying someone with measles.

          They say the infected person flew in from Manila on Philippine Airlines flight PR218 on 30 November at 2.05pm and those sitting around them may have been infected.

          Medical officer of health David Sinclair said they were ing other passengers on the plane who were sitting between rows 44 and 66...

            Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) has been notified of five new cases of measles, with the majority being close contacts of an existing case.

            Medical Officer of Health Dr William Rainger says last week?s total of four cases of measles has risen to nine, but four of the five new cases are household contacts.

            There is one new case which isn?t linked to an existing case, a woman in her forties from Rodney. This person is now in isolation, but she was infectious when she went to the Countdown supermarket in Silverdale on Monday 18 March at 10am, the Countdown at Orewa at 11am and Oliver?s Cafe in Orewa at midday and the Four Square in Parakai at 4.30pm on Wednesday March 20...

              Measles cases: About 900 people could have been exposed Auckland

              Auckland Regional Public Health Service has warned that about 900 people could have been exposed to measles in Auckland.

              The news comes after it was announced on Tuesday that a further five people in Auckland have been diagnosed with the highly infectious disease, bringing the city's total to nine confirmed cases.

              A further 59 people were in quarantine, ARPHS confirmed on Thursday morning.

              Those who could have been exposed have been contacted by health authorities...

                There have been 66 confirmed cases of the measles in 2019 - with 39 of those in Canterbury, the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) told Stuff on Tuesday.

                    The number of cases of measles in the Mount Maunganui area has risen to four with Auckland also registering an increase.

                    The Bay of Plenty's Toi Te Ora Public Health unit says it has identified four cases of measles occurring over the last three weeks that have been linked to the Mount Maunganui area.

                    Yesterday it said on case of the disease had been confirmed in Mt Maunganui.

                    There are also outbreaks of measles in Christchurch and Auckland at present...

                      Passengers on Auckland flight to Hong Kong warned about measles risk

                      Hundreds of people are at risk of catching measles after someone with the disease caught a flight from Auckland to Hong Kong.

                      A woman on the flight says at least 300 people were on the plane with the highly infectious disease.

                      Tauranga woman Bryony Cross told Stuff she received a warning about the disease via email from Hong Kong's Centre for Health Protection.

                            Auckland is now in the midst of a measles outbreak, the regional public health service says.

                            A further six people have contracted the highly infectious illness, bringing the total number of cases across the region to 33 as of Tuesday afternoon, Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) told Stuff.

                              Measles is a viral infection that is serious for small children but is easily preventable by a vaccine.

                              Two cases of measles have been confirmed in Taupō, and people who were at the movies, a games shop, or certain eateries may have been exposed.

                              A Bay of Plenty measles outbreak had previously been centred around the Western Bay of Plenty and, on Tuesday, there had been 12 confirmed cases.

                              The two additional cases - in the Lakes DHB area - takes that to 14...

                              ...An infectious person or people were at two movie screenings at Starlight Cinema: the 2.45pm screening of Shizam on April 23, and the evening showing of Avengers Endgame 3D on April 26.

                              Anyone who was there, is under 50, and not vaccinated is at risk of developing the infection, Toi Te Ora said.

                              Also affected are those who were at EB Games or Burger King in the early to mid-afternoon on ANZAC Day.

                              Lastly, diners who were at Dixie Browns between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on April 26 should also watch for symptoms over the next week...
