    Measles outbreak in Vinnytsia region: dozens of National Guard soldiers hospitalized

    The outbreak of measles spotted among the personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine assigned to Vinnytsia military unit #3008 as TSN reported.

    The first case of the sickness of measles was spotted before the New Year and now, the number of the diseased increased up to more than a few dozens. The National Guard does not have a specialized medical unit so the soldiers are hospitalized to the city hospital. Four soldiers receive the treatment at Khmelnitsk District Hospital. The diagnosis measles is not confirmed yet; all of them have high fever and cough.

    ?We do not have the rashes,? soldier Bohdan Bidnyk said.

    ?We have the fever, cough. We receive the pills, injections; we are treated so,? soldier Mykhailo Holovan said.

    The commander of the unit said that the soldier could get infected on duty or at the crowded places.

    ?My soldiers are serving at the regional administration, city council, convoy, security at halls, closed space, contact with the population,? Volodymyr Dzhula explained.

    The soldiers were vaccinated hastily; more than 50 soldiers got the vaccination.

    Quarantine announced in Kyiv Lukyanivska prison over measles outbreak

    The quarantine was announced in Lukyanivska pre-trial detention in Kyiv, because of a measles outbreak. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine news agency.

    According to the source, since January 14, 2019, the measles outbreak was registered among the convicts in prison. ?As of January 15, seven people fell ill,? the source said.

    It was noted that hospitalization of sick people has not yet been carried out.

    "71 people came into contact with the diseased. In order to prevent the spread of measles, an infection control commission was formed. A plan was developed and put into effect to prevent the spread of the disease among persons taken into custody," a source said...

      Five people died from measles in Ukraine since the beginning of 2019 as Public Health Center of Healthcare Ministry of Ukraine reported.

      ?Totally, five people died from the complications of measles this year. In 2018, measles claimed 16 lives,? the message said.

      Particularly, three people died from the complications last week.

      According to the Public Health Center, 3,450 people, including 1,502 adults and 1,948 children got sick with measles during the third week of 2019...

        The highest incidence rates are in Lviv, Vinnytsia, Rivne, Khmelnytsky regions, and in the city of Kyiv.

        Some 3,142 measles cases were registered in Ukraine in the past week, namely they included 1,472 adults and 1,670 children, which was 7% down on the previous week.

        "Measles complications killed one adult last week. It also became known about another fatal case of measles on February 9 ? the disease claimed the life of an 18-year-old student," according to the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. "In total, eight people have already died, including two children, this year. In 2018, measles claimed 16 lives," the report said...

          KIEV, Ukraine (AP) ? Eight people have died of measles in Ukraine since the start of the year, already half as many as died in the whole of 2018, authorities said on Wednesday.

          The Health Ministry said in a statement that two deaths from the extremely contagious viral disease have been recorded since Saturday. Last week alone, more than 3,100 people went down with measles, half of them children.

          The World Health Organization's data show that Ukraine logged 53,000 confirmed measles cases last year, accounting for more than half of all cases in Europe...

            A 57-year-old woman died in hospital of complications from the highly infectious illness, health ministry spokeswoman Maryna Dadinova told AFP.

            Eight people, including two children, have died of measles in Ukraine this year. There were 16 deaths nationwide in 2018.

            Around 20,000 people in Ukraine have contracted the highly contagious viral disease since the start of the year...

                Ukraine Reports 11 Measles Fatalities, More Than 30,00 New Infections This Year

                Health officials in Kyiv have said that 30,794 cases of measles have been reported in Ukraine since the beginning of the year.

                The Health Ministry said on March 18 that 16,969 of the victims were children and that 11 people had died of the disease.

                There were more than 2,000 new infections reported during the week from March 11 to March 17.

                On March 1, UNICEF reported that there were 35,120 measles cases in Ukraine in 2018, a massive increase over the nearly 5,000 cases reported in 2017.

                Citing World Health Organization (WHO) data, UNICEF reported that just 42 percent of Ukrainian one-year-olds had received measles vaccinations as of the end of 2016...

                  After several weeks of falling, the rate of measles in Ukraine is rising again. From March 28 to April 4, the most recent cases of measles were registered in Ternopil (243 patients: 81 adults and 162 children), in Kiev (214: 118 adults and 96 children), Kiev (175: 96 adults and 79 children), Kharkiv (171: 110 adults and 61 children) and Khmelnytsky (160: 84 adults and 76 children)...

                    Another death from measles registered in Rivne city, western Ukraine. Three-month-old child from the complications caused by this disease as Rivne Regional Lab Center reported.

                    It is reported that a girl was born by a woman, who infected with measles during the pregnancy. A child was born premature and had congenital measles. The virus struck the brain and lungs of a child. All necessary resuscitation events took place; however, it was impossible to save a child.

                    The diagnosis measles was confirmed at the virological labs.

                    It is noted that 74 citizens of Rivne region, including 60 children, infected with measles last week. 25 ill people, including 14 children, were hospitalized.

                    As we reported 50,749 people, including 24,905 adults and 26,844 children, sickened with measles in Ukraine in 2019.

                    Earlier, the UN reported that 70 percent of all measles cases in Europe are observed in Ukraine...

                      Over 55,000 people sickened with measles in Ukraine

                      55,300 people, including 25,987 adults and 29,316 children, sickened with measles in Ukraine since December 28, 2018 up to June 27, 2019 as the Healthcare Ministry reported.

                      During the last week, June 24-30, 601 people infected with measles, 287 adults and 314 children. The majority of the cases were spotted in Kyiv region (57 people:30 adults, 27 children), Lviv region (56 people: 20 adults, 36 children) and Kyiv (50 people: 27 adults, 23 children).

                      It is reported that over 110,000 people sickened with measles since summer 2017; 39 of them died.

                      Earlier, the UN reported that 70 percent of all measles cases in Europe are observed in Ukraine...

                        56,105 people, including 26,358 adults and 29,727 children sickened with measles since the beginning of the year (from December 28, 2018, up to July 11, 2019). 18 people died from the complications of this disease as the Healthcare Ministry reported.

                        During the 28th week of 2019 345 people, including 180 adults and 165 children, got sick with measles.

                        From June 28 up to July 11 the majority of the cases were spotted in Kyiv (44 diseased: 32 adults and 12 children), Khmelnytsky region (29 diseased: 14 adults and 15 children), Chernivtsi region (24 diseased: 10 adults and 14 children), Kyiv region (23 diseased: 16 adults and 7 children) and Zakarpattia region (23 diseased: 8 adults and 15 children)...

                          KIEV, August 6. /TASS/. The number of people diagnosed with measles in Ukraine continues to grow, having reached nearly 57,000 since the beginning of the year, the press service of the Ukrainian Healthcare Ministry reported.

                          "A total of 56,861 people, including 26,748 adults and 30,113 children, have been diagnosed with measles in Ukraine in 2019. Eighteen fatalities have been registered. In total, 117,000 people have fallen ill since the measles outbreak in the summer of 2017," the press service said...

                          According to the Healthcare Ministry, 287 people, including 127 chidren, were diagnosed with measles in the first week of August. Most cases were reported in Kiev and the Vinnitsa, Chernovtsy, Kiev and Khmelnitsky regions.
