    Health officials in Butebo and Mbale Districts have announced an outbreak of Measles.
    The acting Butebo District Health Officer, Dr Nathan Tibako, said on Tuesday that the airborne disease had been confirmed in 44 people after laboratory tests were done in February this year.
    ?We have embarked on massive community sensitization and immunization of mostly children from five months to five years to avoid further spread,? he said.
    He said four new cases were registered at Galimagi community health centre, one of the centres handling patients with symptoms of measles.
    The most affected villages in the district are Kashebai, Kanyum, Petete, Kachecha and Kachulu.

    13 children hospitalised as measles breaks out in Amuru District

    AMURU- A suspected measles outbreak in Amuru District has left 13 people hospitalised.

    The 13 cases have been reported at Elegu border post, Atiak Sub County in Amuru District and the patients are receiving treatment at Atiak Health Centre III.

    The affected children are aged between six months and 12 years.

    The district health officer, Dr Patrick Olwedo Odong, told Daily Monitor that the outbreak has been confirmed clinically...

      Three die, 190 cases reported as Measles breaks out in Kamuli

      KAMULI- An outbreak of Measles in Kamuli District has killed three children and left about 190 sick, health officials have confirmed.

      As a result, authorities have announced a mass Measles vaccination campaign in the seven sub-counties of the district.

      The most affected sub-counties, according to the District Health Officer, Dr Aggrey Batezaki, are Namwendwa, Namasagali and Magogo...

        Panic in Busoga as measles outbreak takes toll

        BUSOGA - The public and the medical fraternity in Busoga region are in panic following an outbreak of measles in children between three months and fifteen years, the calamity prevailing in seven districts.

        The epidemic has not only left hundreds of children hospitalised, but also claimed lives across the affected districts.

        In Kamuli district, according to the district health officer, Dr Aggrey Batesaki, three deaths have been registered, while 197 cases are being handled in different health facilities across the district.

        By press time, New Vision, was yet to establish the figures per district, given the ongoing Easter festivities.

        A survey carried out by New vision at the close March established that the outbreak has not only affected children at household levels, but also in primary and secondary schools, especially those in boarding schools...

          KAMPALA, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's ministry of health on Thursday announced an outbreak of measles, one of the country's top killer diseases.

          Jane Ruth Aceng, minister for health, told Xinhua that the measles outbreak has been reported in 29 districts in the east African country. She said children are the most affected.

          Aceng said the ministry plans to carry out an emergency measles immunization exercise in the affected districts targeting children below five years. She said the move is to avert the spread of the disease.

          She said the emergency immunization exercise is an addition to the routine measles immunization carried out after every two years...

            Gov't confirms measles outbreak in Ntoroko, Mayuge

            Government has confirmed a measles outbreak in Ntoroko and Mayuge districts.

            Dr Josephine Bwago, the head of department Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) at the Uganda Virus Research Institute says they received specimen of six measles suspects from Mayuge district on July 11 and another seven from Ntoroko district on July 12, 2018.

            Dr Bwago says all the specimens tested positive for measles. All the suspects from Ntoroko are from Kanara sub-county while those of Mayuge are from Baitambogwe, Mpungwe and Wairasa sub-counties...

              Suspected Measles Cases Reported in Omoro District

              A suspected outbreak of Measles has been reported in Omoro district in northern Uganda.

              At least 23 suspected cases of measles are said to be been registered at various health facilities.


              Dr. Robert Ongom, the District Health officer told this website that these cases were recorded since June.

              Dr. Ongom said several samples had been sent to the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe for further investigation.

              No deaths have been recorded so far.

              Mr. Douglas Peter Okello, the Omoro district chairman said most of the cases were recorded in Koro, Lalogi and Odek sub-county adding...

                Uganda: Measles Outbreak Hits Amuru, Omoro Districts

                Amuru District health officials have confirmed a measles outbreak in the area.

                According to the secretary for health and education, Mr Apollo Kagwa Okello, so far five children have tested positive in just one week.
