    Two new cases of measles detected in South Australia

    A 45-year-old man and a 21-year-old female have contracted measles during overseas trips to Thailand and Bali, in the latest spate of diagnoses in South Australia.

    Both are in a stable condition in hospital.

    SA Health is warning South Australians to ensure they have measles vaccinations before going on holidays...

      Medical experts in South Australia have issued a warning for anyone travelling to South East Asia to ensure they are fully immunised after an outbreak of measles in the state in recent weeks.

      A 25-year-old woman is in hospital in Adelaide after contracting the illness during a trip to Asia.

        Two more cases of measles diagnosed in South Australia

        Another two cases of measles have been diagnosed in South Australia, with a woman and a baby boy contracting the disease through the local community.

        SA Health?s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Paddy Phillips, said the 22-year-old woman and nine-month-old boy were in a stable condition in hospital.

        ?We have identified that the two latest cases of measles were contracted locally, most likely after being in the same location as one of the previously notified cases,? Prof. Phillips said...

          Tourist?s Territory visit sparks measles warning

          AN OVERSEAS tourist has sparked a measles scare, prompting the Health Department to issue a Territory-wide alert.

          The tourist is known to have spent time at crowded locations in Darwin on Thursday October 13, including the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT at Bullocky Point and the Mindil Beach Markets. She also passed through Darwin Airport on Monday, October 17, before boarding a Jetstar flight for Cairns.

          Acting Director of the Centre for Disease Control, Dr Peter Markey, said Queensland health authorities advised their Territory counterparts about the woman?s condition.

          She was infectious between October 12 to 17 while in the Top End, visiting both Darwin and Kakadu...

            Measles alert for people on flight to WA

            West Australians are being warned about an increased risk of measles after a Singapore Airlines passenger caught the illness while on holiday in Japan before returning home to Perth.

            The passenger's first flight was SQ633 from Tokyo, arriving in Singapore about 11pm on October 20, and they then flew to Perth on SQ225, arriving about 5.15am the next morning.

            The Health Department warns fellow passengers may have been exposed, as well as anyone in the arrival area at Perth Airport international terminal, Mead Medical Centre in Forrestfield on that Friday between 11am and midday, and the nearby St John of God Pathology collection centre between 11.20am and 12.30pm.

            Exposure was also possible at Pathwest Collection Centre at Kalamunda Hospital on October 24 between 4.30pm and 5pm, Jetts 24 Hour Fitness in Forrestfield that same day from about 11.30am to 12.40pm, and Dome cafe in Kalamunda between about 2pm and 4pm...

              West Australians are being warned about an increased risk of measles after another person was found to have contracted the virus while travelling overseas.

              It is the second such case in a week, after a passenger on board a flight from Tokyo to Perth, via Singapore, was diagnosed with the infection several days ago.

              The locations the second person visited are listed below but include the Bentley Maternity Unit...

                Eleventh measles case confirmed in South Australia

                The eleventh locally acquired measles case has been confirmed in the town of Gawler, South Australia.

                The infected person is a 34-year-old woman, SA Health's Chief Medical Officer Professor Paddy Phillips confirmed this afternoon.

                She remains in a stable condition at home, where she is self-quarantining.

                ?This is the fifth locally acquired case in the Gawler area in recent months so I urge anyone who is unsure of their vaccination status to visit their GP to ensure they are fully immunised," Professor Phillips said...

                    Measles warning issued for Sydney after case diagnosed in CBD

                    Health authorities have issued a warning after a person who contracted measles overseas was reported to have been in the Sydney CBD.

                    The Public Health Unit of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) have issued a warning to the public to be alert to symptoms of the highly contagious disease.

                    The infected adult was reported to have lived in the Sydney CBD between November 26 and December 4.

                    The person, whose identity has not been revealed, also visited the Emergency Department at Sydney Hospital on Macquarie Street, GP clinics on George Street and Darlinghurst, and a coffee shop on Harris Street in Ultimo...

                      Gold Coast and Tweed Heads residents have been warned about a potential measles outbreak on the tourist strip.

                      The Gold Coast Public Health Unit says a Tweed resident has been diagnosed with the highly infectious disease and has also spent time on the southern parts of the Gold Coast.

                      The patient, who conducts deliveries as part of their work, may have exposed others to the disease from Sunday to Friday last week...

                          THREE young women diagnosed with measles spent time in the eastern suburbs while infectious.

                          NSW Health today revealed the three people who have contracted the highly contagious disease this month were all women in their 20s.

                          One is a NSW resident and the other two were travellers from overseas.

                          They did not know each other but all three had visited multiple locations between November 26 and December 15 including inner city hospital emergency departments as well as GP clinics and medical centres in Darlinghurst, Leichhardt, Camperdown, Bondi and George St in the CBD.

                          They also visited restaurants and shops in the CBD, Ultimo, Bondi, Bondi Junction, Leichhardt, Double Bay, Chatswood, and Marrickville.

                            An adult woman has been diagnosed with measles in Brisbane's north, Metro North Public Health Unit confirmed.

                            The woman from Camp Mountain visited a number of businesses while she was unknowingly infectious.

                            She went to the Samford IGA, Samford Caltex and Samford Patisserie on December 15-16, Spokes Cafe on December 17, Aspley Medical Centre on December 21 and The Prince Charles Hospital emergency department on December 22...
