      Last updated 12:33, May 27 2016

The return date for non-vaccinated students at Levin's Waiopehu College has been pushed back as six more cases of measles are confirmed in Horowhenua.

Both the college and Levin Intermediate were closed last Friday after two students were found to have contracted measles. The school reopened on Monday for students who had proof of vaccination documents, but students who had not been vaccinated, or could not provide proof, were not permitted to return.

Five of the six latest cases are students from the college, which has pushed back the full reopening of the school to June 2 after it was initially penned for May 30.

The additional cases bring the total number in the MidCentral District Health Board area to nine, seven of which are college students...

A "significant number" of people may have been exposed to measles after a case in Queenstown went undiagnosed for two days.

A 16-year-old schoolgirl is in isolation after she developed symptoms on Monday and was diagnosed on Wednesday.

That included at least 130 at the Queenstown Medical Centre, where the girl visited her general practitioner three days in a row.

Poore said there were fears there would be an outbreak if they were unable to contain the virus...
