    COLUMBUS — Ohio’s first case of measles for 2025 was reported in an infected adult who was not vaccinated in Ashtabula County this week, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

    “The fact that we now have a measles case in Ohio adds emphasis to the importance of being fully vaccinated,” said Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, director of the Ohio Department of Health.

    Ohio had 90 cases of measles in 2022, when an outbreak was centered in central Ohio. The state had one measles case in 2023 and seven in 2024.​..

    COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health has announced a measles outbreak in Ashtabula County in addition to a confirmed case in Knox County.

    According to ODH Director Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, a total of 10 measles cases have been identified. "Nine are linked to an adult man reported last week as the state's first measles case of 2025," the ODH said in a release. "None of the individuals were vaccinated."...

    ...Officials say the confirmed case in Knox County is from a visitor "who exposed others to measles in Knox and nearby counties."...

      DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Yet another Ohio county is facing an outbreak of measles.

      Allen County Public Health reported its first case of measles of 2025 Friday. The infected individual is a juvenile under 18 and unvaccinated.

      Officials say those who have been in contact with the individual have been notified.​..

          MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (WCMH) – Reported cases of measles in Knox County have nearly quadrupled in 10 days, according to an update from Knox Public Health.

          In an updated news release issued Tuesday evening, there are now 14 confirmed cases of measles in Knox County, seven of which are from Ohio residents, linked to the initial case of measles announced late last month.

          Knox Public Health have reportedly isolated themselves and their symptoms are being monitored throughout this isolation period. The agency has been working with identified exposures since contact tracing began and they have been in quarantine.​..

            MILLERSBURG, Ohio (WOIO) - As Ohio battles an outbreak, the Holmes County General Health District (HCGHD) reported a measles case Wednesday afternoon.

            According to a release, on Tuesday, the HCGHD was notified of a lab-confirmed case of measles in an adult Holmes County resident.

            The HCGHD is working with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) to follow up on potential exposures and promote vaccine opportunities.

            According to the release, any identified contacts will be notified by public health officials for guidance.​..

              DEFIANCE — An isolated case of measles has been confirmed in a Defiance County resident, according to the Defiance County Health Department.

              The adult patient, whose vaccination status was unknown, has recovered. The individual, who had minimal exposure to others, has been working with state and local officials to identify and notify anyone who may have been exposed.​..

                Local hospital visitors may have been exposed to measles

                CLEVELAND (WJW) – A pediatric case of measles has been confirmed in Cuyahoga County, prompting urgent warnings from public health officials.

                The child, who was not vaccinated for measles, was treated at Hillcrest Hospital earlier this month. According to the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, the case was reported on May 4 and officially confirmed on May 6.​

                The child first visited Hillcrest Hospital on May 2 for lab work and returned to the emergency department on May 4, where symptoms led to the measles diagnosis. The child is currently isolating at home.

                Officials say the public may have been exposed on May 2 between 3:50 and 6:15 p.m. in the Atrium lobby of Hillcrest Hospital. Those who were in the lobby during that time and cannot prove immunity to measles are being urged to quarantine for 21 days, even if they are not showing symptoms.​..

                  ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville-Muskingum county Health Department has reported three laboratory confirmed cases of measles were identified in three children in Muskingum County.

                  All three children are from the same family, they are all currently home and improving.

                  The Health Department has been working with the family and hospital to identify and follow-up with any exposures and contacts, and help where needed.​..

                    New Albany-Plain Local Schools is closing its Early Learning Center on Oct. 6 because one of its students tested positive for measles, and unvaccinated students and staff will be forced to stay home until at least Oct. 16.

                    According to a letter the district sent families on Oct. 3, the Ohio Department of Health informed New Albany-Plain Schools of the confirmed case of measles in the district's preschool and kindergarten that serves over 500 students.​..

                      Franklin County Public Health said Wednesday that the fifth case is an unvaccinated 6-year-old who had travelled internationally. This measles case is unrelated to the previous four, who were unvaccinated family members who had travelled internationally.​..
