An outbreak of mumps has been reported in Exeter, with seven new cases in one week listed in the Statutory Notifications of Infections Diseases report by Public Health England.
Public Health England (PHE) is reminding students to be alert to symptoms of mumps following a number of cases reported among students at the University of Exeter.
PHE has provided information about mumps for the university to share with students and staff...
...It comes after another outbreak of mumps in Nottingham where there have been 78 confirmed cases last week - again associated with students at the university...
...In the week ending March 31, there were seven notifiable cases in Exeter out of a total of 10 reported in the whole of Devon - with one in East Devon, one in Teignbridge and one in Torbay.
Nationally the number of mumps cases fell last week, dropping from 312 down to 260 in England and Wales. There were none in neighbouring Dorset or Somerset...
