    2 cases of the mumps reported by Springfield schools

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -- Springfield school leaders now say they are focused on two cases of the mumps, not just the one.

    The district Thursday morning reports high school student also tested positive for the mumps over Christmas break. The school reported Wednesday night an elementary school student was sent home with symptoms of the mumps. Those students happen to be related.

    District leaders say the elementary school student was only in school part of the day Tuesday when started showing those symptoms. Educators say that student was not tested for the mumps, but because of his symptoms and a sibling, they believe that was the case...

    The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services continues to receive new reports of mumps cases, saying in a news release that it has confirmed 343 cases since fall.

                CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

                Southeast Missouri State University has now received eight confirmed reports of students with mumps.

                Assistant Vice President Dr. Bruce Skinner said they are working with the Cape Girardeau County Public Health and the Campus Health Clinics.

                The university is also upping its cleaning schedule of high-touch areas like computer labs and dining centers.

                  CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

                  Southeast Missouri State University now reports 29 confirmed cases of students with mumps.

                  Assistant Vice President Dr. Bruce Skinner said they are working with the Cape Girardeau County Public Health and the Campus Health Clinics.

                  On March 3, the Missouri Department of health and Senior Services recommended that all Southeast Missouri State University students consider getting a third dose of the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine.

                  The university also hosted a vaccination clinic specifically for fraternity and sorority members on March 7.

                  Students can also get that third vaccine by visiting the Campus Health Clinic from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday March 9 and Friday March 10.

                    Students are tested in accordance with the State of Missouri Protocol outlined by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.                         CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

                        Southeast Missouri State University now reports 51 confirmed cases of students with mumps.

                        According to SEMO News Bureau Director Ann Hayes, the University is tracking 113 students where there was a concern about mumps.

                        Four students are suspected to have mumps and are awaiting test results, 22 students are suspected of mumps and are probable, and 36 students tested negative. Hayes said the cases that are suspected and are probable are not confirmed because testing was not ordered because the student had a high exposure to other students who previously tested positive for mumps.

                        School leaders believe the peak of the mumps outbreak has passed, but expect to see more positive cases on campus and in the community...

                            Southeast Missouri State University now reports 54 confirmed cases of students with mumps.

                            According to SEMO News Bureau Director Ann Hayes, as of April 27, 23 students are suspected of mumps and are probable. No testing was ordered for this group of students because they had a high exposure to other students who previously tested positive. There are currently six student cases pending.

                            Hayes said 40 students who were suspected tested negative for mumps.
