    Chickenpox Outbreak Reported at Chula Vista School

    Nine students have been diagnosed with chickenpox at the Dehesa Charter School?s Chula Vista Resource Center, county health officials reported Friday.

    The first illness was reported on March 28 and the most recent case was diagnosed on April 25.

    The kids diagnosed range in age from 6 to 15 years old, according to a news release from the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.

    Eight of these students were not immunized for varicella (chickenpox) and one child had been vaccinated twice...

      5 PB Students Diagnosed With Chickenpox

      Five students have been diagnosed with chickenpox at a Pacific Beach elementary school, the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency reported Friday.

      The cases at Kate Sessions Elementary are unrelated to the two previous outbreaks reported last week.

        The school year is not ending well for Topanga Elementary Charter School, what with the recent computer theft and, now, an outbreak of chicken pox.

        Monday morning, May 16, a kind of contained chaos filled the office as principal Steve Gediman and his staff were dealing with a second confirmed case of chicken pox and a few parents whose children had to be excluded from school and sent home with their parents.

        The first case was identified on April 20, and the school sent a letter home informing the parents.

        ?On Thursday, May 12, the District conferred with the CDC and County Health, and our situation was officially declared an outbreak,? Gediman wrote in an e-mail. ?The County gave us a letter to send home to everyone...

          Students victim to Chickenpox

          Two cases of Varicella, commonly known as chickenpox, were reported to the Student Health Center last week, according to a series of emails sent out to the Cal State Fullerton community from CSUF Housing.

          The first case was reported on Sept. 26 and involved a student living in the residence halls, according to the emails. The student may have exposed other students, faculty and staff to the virus from Sept. 23 through Sept. 26, specifically in the Gastronome and residence hall areas.

          The student will remain off campus until they are no longer contagious.

          The second case was reported on Sept. 27 and involved a student living off campus, according to the emails. The student may have exposed other students, faculty and staff when they attended a ?Meet the Firms? event on campus on Sept. 22...

            BREAKING: Students may have been exposed to chickenpox on campus

            Students may have been exposed to chickenpox on campus from Oct. 1 to Oct. 28, according to a health advisory from Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS).

            According to the advisory, areas where students may have been exposed include:

            Riverside Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.,
            Sequoia Hall on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.,
            Alpine Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.,
            Yosemite Hall on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to noon,
            The Library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and
            The WELL on Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon.

            Lisa Johnson, the associate director of clinical operations for SHCS, said that the potential exposure comes from a single student...
