    BLOOMINGTON ? Mumps are back in McLean County, less than six weeks after the fall, countywide outbreak ended.

    Four additional McLean County residents have been diagnosed recently with the contagious viral illness, Lisa Slater of the McLean County Health Department said Monday. The four are not clustered together at the same location and their ages vary, she said.

    Why more people are getting mumps ? and whether it's related to schools and universities being back in session ? was unclear late Monday when the health department announced the new cases.

    When Melissa Graven, the health department's communicable disease supervisor, told The Pantagraph in early January that the fall outbreak had ended Dec. 13, she said that she expected more mumps cases in the future...

      McLean County now up to five cases of mumps in 2016

      BLOOMINGTON ? The McLean County Health Department says another case of mumps has been detected in the county, bringing the number of mumps cases this year to five. Spokeswoman Lisa Slater said the cases are spread out, so no outbreak has been declared.

      ?And the age range this time compared with the outbreak we had in 2015 is different,? Slater said. ?We have individuals who are only six years of age up to the age of 37 who have confirmed mumps this time.?...

              Mumps Cases Spike This February

              Friday, the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District said the number of mumps cases have spiked yet again.

              The number of mumps cases this February reported from the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District is 10 times as many as in January.

              The Health District said there were 20 cases this month as opposed to 2 last month.

                    Champaign County Mumps Outbreak Could Soon End

                    CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCCU) ? After 15 months and at least 317 cases, Champaign County could see an end to the mumps outbreak.

                    The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District says they haven't seen a case since May 27.

                    The Health District says if they don't see another case by July 18, then that will end the 50 day period for when an outbreak would officially end.

                    The majority of these cases were seen in University of Illinois students after the outbreak started last year...
