Whooping cough outbreak investigated in Weber County

OGDEN -- The Weber-Morgan Health Department is investigating an outbreak of whooping cough in Weber County.

The department is talking with more than 30 people who include family members and students attending Wahlquist Junior High, Plain City Elementary and Evergreen Montessori Academy. School officials sent letters alerting parents to the outbreak this week.

So far, one infant has been hospitalized and five others have active symptoms of the highly contagious respiratory infection, also known as pertussis...

East High School fighting whooping cough outbreak

Seven East High School students were kept home from school on Thursday while school officials and the Salt Lake County Health Department worked to contain an outbreak of whooping cough.

The school also conducted on-site immunizations for roughly 30 students who had not yet received pertussis, or whooping cough, vaccinations, East High School Principal Paul Sagers said. ..
