    A person who traveled to Paraguay contracted chikungunya reported from the province of Chaco. In addition, a second case is being investigated, with an epidemiological link to the first, which also traveled to the neighboring country.     "As of today from @ChacoSalud a positive case of Chikungunya virus has been confirmed and there is currently a second case under study. The last suspected case has an epidemiological link with the first and a history of travel to Paraguay. Together we must reinforce care ", expressed the minister of health of Chaco, Carolina Centeno. on her Twitter account.

    In this sense, the Epidemiology Directorate began to request all people who traveled to Paraguay or Brazil to go to the nearest Health Center for diagnosis if, before 14 days have elapsed since the return, they have a fever accompanied by a headache, drowsiness, muscle or joint pain, as well as pain behind the eyes, rash, or bleeding gums.     The Ministry of Health of the Nation confirmed in Argentina the first 17 cases of chikungunya fever in four provinces. Outside the national part, Chaco reported that they detected another contagion.

    The health portfolio explained that all infections are imported. In other words, the patients did not get sick in the country or province where they reside.

    Based on the epidemiological investigation, it was found that before the symptoms of the disease began (high fever, intense joint pain, headache, and muscle pain) the people had been in Paraguay, which is experiencing a strong outbreak of the disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the same one that can also spread dengue, Zika and yellow fever.

    The cases detected in Argentina so far were distributed in the province of Buenos Aires (two infections), the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (four infections), Formosa (ten infections) and one case diagnosed in Córdoba corresponding to a citizen residing in Spain. In addition, another probable case is registered in Formosa that refers to not having traveled outside the country in the previous 15 days and refers to a three-day trip to Corrientes in said period. Both jurisdictions are carrying out the corresponding epidemiological investigation and are waiting for a second sample to confirm or rule out the infection...
