    Ministry of Agriculture Deploys a Team to Help Handling Anthrax Cases in Gunung Kidul

    Agrofarm.co.id-Following up on information about anthrax cases in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH) of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) immediately dispatched a team to the location. This was conveyed by the Director of Animal Health, Directorate General of PKH, Nuryani Zainuddin in Jakarta.
    "To help with the handling, we have sent a team to the location," he added, Monday (31/01/2022).
    Nuryani explained that the cases occurred in Gombong Village, Ponjong District and Hargomulyo Village, Gedang Sari District, with a total of 11 cows and four goats reported dead and 23 people reported having skin anthrax cases.
    "I instruct the team to coordinate with relevant agencies in Gunung Kidul Regency and DI Yogyakarta Province as well as BBVet Wates," he added.
    The Director of Animal Health also said that in addition to bringing medical aid for handling cases in Gunung Kidul, the team also conducted socialization to farmers not to slaughter sick livestock and report any sick or sudden death of livestock to the nearest animal health officer.
    "It is hoped that this fast treatment will be able to control the case, so that it does not spread to other locations," he hoped.
    Separately, the Director General of PKH, Nasrullah asked the DI Yogyakarta Provincial Livestock Service and the Gunung Kidul Regency Livestock and Animal Health Service to continue to take measures to prevent and control anthrax according to standards.
    "Make sure vaccinations in areas that have been infected are carried out regularly and monitor livestock traffic," he asked.
    Meanwhile, Retno Widyastuti from the Livestock and Animal Health Office of Gunung Kidul Regency said that the anthrax case in Gunung Kidul had been handled well and the case investigation had been carried out together with the Health Office.
    "We have a One Health Task Force, so that case information can be responded to quickly and has involved cross-sectors," he said
