Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan: The situation on the registration of anthrax in the Akmola region is under control

The epidemiological situation in the Akmola region and the city of Nur-Sultan is stable.

The Committee for Quality and Safety Control of Goods and Services of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan informed about the epidemiological situation and the measures taken in connection with the registration of anthrax in the village of Olginka, Mikhailovsky rural district, Arshalynsky district, Akmola region.

According to Lyudmila Byurabekova, Chairperson of the Committee for Quality and Safety Control of Goods and Services of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ?The situation regarding the registration of anthrax is under constant control of the Committee.?

In the region, under the chairmanship of Deputy Akim of Akmola Oblast Galymzhan Adykalikov, territorial headquarters for anthrax work with the participation of all interested government agencies in the field of health, veterinary medicine, law enforcement agencies and representatives of emergency situations departments. The outbreak organized anti-epidemic and anti-epizootic measures aimed at identifying and vaccinating contact persons, ?the head of the Committee noted.

In addition, the akim of the Arshaly district approved an action plan for the localization and elimination of epizootic and epidemiological foci.

To date, five suspected cases of anthrax have been reported, of which four have been laboratory-confirmed. The causes of infection were the forced slaughter of cattle (cows) without a veterinary examination on a personal compound.

In addition, 3 paramedics were sent to the village of Olginka to conduct backyard tours. The medical organization is provided with medicines in full.

It should be noted that all contacts in the period from August 12 to 15, 2019 were hospitalized in the infectious ward of the Arshalynsky hospital. An epidemiological investigation established that from August 2 to 6, 2019, a forced slaughter of a cow was carried out without a veterinary examination in a personal compound. According to the owner of the cow, 5 people participated in the slaughter.

Currently, the laboratory of especially dangerous infections of the regional branch of the National Center for Expertise of the Akmola region has taken material from patients for serological testing.

Also, specialists from laboratory services from the moment of registration of the first case of the disease from the foci selected the materials of the diseased animal ( cattle meat, wool, hay, milk, dung, feed (barley, mixed fodder ), soil, water and manure from the slaughter site.

According to the results of studies, no inappropriate samples were detected, 3 additional biological samples and 5 soil samples were selected, which are on bacteriological studies.

At the same time, the veterinary inspection together with the sanitary service, police and medical workers conducted courtyard rounds of 156 houses (with partial repetition), 236 various objects and organizations, more than 392 leaflets were distributed to residents.

During the courtyard bypass, a circle of contact persons was determined for whom medical supervision was established, thermometry and examination were carried out twice a day.

Final disinfection was carried out in the hearths, bed disinfection was carried out in the chamber. To control the disinfection carried out, 70 washes were selected, of which 50 werehes were negative, 20 werehes in operation.

Note that on August 16 this year, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan introduced quarantine in the territory of the village of Olginka, the Mikhailovsky rural district of the Arshaly district of the Akmola region in connection with laboratory confirmation of the diagnosis of anthrax in animals belonging to the residents of the village of Olginka.

There are restrictions on the movement (entry and exit) of farm animals, vehicles and people on the territory of the settlement of Olgink, Mikhailovsky rural district, Arshalynsky district, Akmola region.

The situation in the region is under the control of the Committee, anti-epidemic measures continue.

In addition, the head of the Committee recommends that citizens observe basic safety and hygiene rules. And also, in cases of fever and deterioration of well-being, we recommend contacting a medical institution at the place of residence.
