Whooping cough kills six in Kaduna

WHOOPING cough has killed six children at Unguwar Lili, Makarfi Local Council Area of Kaduna State, according to the Head of Health Department, Dr. Abdurrahman Tanko.
Tanko said 25 children had been hospitalised, but that the council was able to treat 200 children.
He said health workers had been deployed to the affected areas to control the spread of the disease, adding that the outbreak was being investigated.
The interim chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdullahi Kampa said that the local council had procured drugs as part of its effort to check the spread of the disease.
Kampa urged the state and Federal Government to intervene to save the lives of children in the area.
