أعلن الدكتور عبد الرحمن شاهين - المتحدث الرسمي باسم وزارة الصحة - أن جهود فرق ترصد نشاط مرض أنفلونزا الخنازير بالوزارة أسفرت عن اكتشاف عدد (733) حالة مؤكدة لمرض الأنفلونزا AH1N1 خلال الأسبوع الماضي في الفترة من 3/1/2011 حتى 8 /1 /2011, مشيراً إلى أن النتائج المعملية لترصد المرض تفيد أن هناك زيادة بسيطة فوق المعدلات الطبيعية للأنفلونزا الموسمية وهو أقل من معدلات الإصابة فى موسم شتاء 2009- 2010، حيث بلغت أعداد الإصابات خلال شهور أكتوبر 2009 إلى يناير 2010 عدد (14846) حالة مقارنة بعدد (3214) حالة خلال موسم شتاء 2010- 2011، ويعزى هذا لزيادة قدرة نظام الترصد والتشخيص المعملى على اكتشاف الحالات حيث يتم ترصد المرض فى أكثر من 450 مستشفى تغطى جميع محافظات الجمهورية. Dr. Abdel Rahman Shahin - Spokesman for the Ministry of Health - that the efforts of teams to monitor disease activity of swine flu in the ministry resulted in the discovery of a number (733) confirmed cases of flu AH1N1 during the last week in the period from 03/01/2011 until 01/08/2011 He pointed out that laboratory results for the surveillance of the disease indicate that there is a slight increase over the normal rates for seasonal influenza is lower than the rates of injury in the season Winter 2009 - 2010, reaching the number of injuries during the months of October 2009 to January 2010 the number (14 846) case compared to the number (3214 ) cases during the winter season 2010 - 2011, and attributed this to increase the ability of a system of surveillance and laboratory diagnosis to detect cases where surveillance of the disease in more than 450 hospitals, covering all the governorates of the Republic.

وأوضح الدكتور عبد الرحمن شاهين أن حالات الوفاة من المرض هذا الأسبوع بلغت (20) حالة كانت من الفئات ذات الخطورة للتعرض لمضاعفات الأنفلونزا. Dr. Abdel Rahman Shahin, that deaths from the disease this week amounted to (20) case was one of the groups with risk of exposure to influenza complications.

وأكد شاهين أن وزارة الصحة تتوقع استمرار هذه الزيادة فى معدل حالات الأنفلونزا حتى نهاية شهر يناير 2011 ثم تبدأ في الانحسار. Shaheen told that the Ministry of Health expects the continuation of this increase in the incidence of influenza until the end of January 2011 and then begin to recede.

كما تنصح وزارة الصحة المواطنين باتباع الإجراءات الوقائية السليمة وقواعد النظافة الشخصية والعامة للوقاية من الأنفلونزا ومن أهمها: غسيل الأيدى بالماء والصابون باستمرار، وتغطية الأنف والفم أثناء العطس أو السعال، والتهوية الجيدة فى أماكن المعيشة والعمل، والحرص على النظافة المستمرة للأسطح والأرضيات، وتجنب الأماكن المزدحمة. I'm a bit surprised by the many comments and articles which clearly indicate or try to portray this flu season within Egypt as not severe.when its measured and compared to the baseline established during the 2009/10 season for total deaths per thousand as measured. when its compared to last year it indicates a doubling in fatalities being reported and is largely do to a lower confirmed positive case count during the current flu season of 2010/11.

The current confirmed case count is under twenty five percent of last years totals and has already yielded fatalities equal to forty three percent of last years reported totals.

Last season 2009/10
16,373 = 16.3 units of thousands by dividing the 281 deaths = 17.23 deaths per thousand of confirmed cases.

This season 2010/11 trend for 3.5 months
3,546 = 3.5 units of thousands by dividing the 122 deaths = 34.85 deaths per thousand of confirmed cases.

The math is currently indicative of the possibility that a greater amount of deaths per thousand may occur during the current flu season do to H1N1 infections directly and is based upon the available public data. Which covers the period from October 2010 Thur January 11th 2011.

Both pro-med and cidrap have published articles,probably unknowingly, which may have been a direct attempt to remove the needed focus from the underlaying data which contradicts the recently published information related to Egypt's current H1N1 status. which was published widely by some media outlets and or other global health organizations.

One of the publications indicated Egypt's fatalities were 24 cases as of January 1st.while the mohp had already made available information that detailed 75 recorded fatalities at that time. with the 24 deaths actually being a number published and contained in a weekly report directly from the local mohp.

I have read many hundreds of articles published by the local media during this flu season and only a couple have mentioned a new or emerging flu which was mutated or mutating and these reports were driven in large by the selection of the descriptive language used by the "local mohp" to describe this years virus as "newly emerging seasonal" and this descriptive term was also preceded by the use of the word avian.

أعلنت مديريات الصحة بمحافظات «الشرقية، والدقهلية، وبورسعيد، والمنوفية، والغربية» عن اكتشاف ١١ حالة إصابة بأنفلونزا الخنازير، واحتجاز ٣٦ حالة للاشتباه. وفى السياق نفسه، نفى الدكتور عادل خطاب، مستشار وزير الصحة للأمراض الصدرية، الأستاذ بكلية الطب جامعة عين شمس، حدوث أى تحور لفيروس أنفلونزا الخنازير فى مصر، مشيراً إلى قلة عدد الوفيات والإصابات، مقارنة بالعام الماضى. In the same vein, he denied Dr. Adel Al Khattab, Advisor to the Minister of Health of the Chest, Professor, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, the occurrence of any mutation of the virus of swine flu in Egypt, pointing to the small number of deaths and injuries, compared to last year.

وقال خطاب لـ«المصرى اليوم» إن الحديث عن تحور الفيروس كلام غير دقيق يصدر من جهات غير مختصة، ولا يجوز لها إصدار تصريحات. He also said, «Egyptian today» The talk about the virus mutating the words of inaccurate issued from non-competent, and may issue statements.

مشيراً إلى أن الأرقام تبين أن ٨٠% من حالات الوفاة من الفئات عالية الخطورة. He pointed out that the figures show that 80% of deaths from high-risk groups.

فيما أكد عبدالمنعم عوض، مستشار وزير التربية والتعليم، أن اتخاذ أى إجراءات من قبل الوزارة تجاه المدارس، بسبب أنفلونزا الخنازير، مرهون بظهور حالات إصابة، كاشفاً عن تنسيق «التعليم» مع وزارة الصحة، للتحرك فور ظهور حالات إصابة.
