Growing panic broke out yesterday among people, especially in the American University in Cairo (AUC), Zamalek district in Cairo and New Maadi in Helwan. This comes after the Ministry of Health announced five new human swine flue cases.

The ministry issued a statement yesterday that the five cases are foreign students in the AUC, thus taking the number of the confirmed cases to eight; seven in the AUC dormitory and a child called Mariam.

The five cases have been referred to Abbasiyah Fever Hospital and taken Tamiflu drug and antibiotics. Their health conditions have become stable, medical sources said.

On the other hand, Ihab Abdel Hafez, a doctor at the Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company, said there were nine suspected cases in the company.

Speaking to Al-Masry Al-Youm, he said: "All cases have been immediately referred to Abbasiyah Fever Hospital." The first case was for an American worker in the company called Ellid Andrew.
