Monitoring of H9 avian influenza in two poultry farms in New Valley

Dr. Abdelhamid Saber, Director General of Veterinary Medicine in the New Valley, announced the monitoring of avian influenza foci at two poultry farms containing 8,000 birds and the withdrawal of samples from 23 farms distributed in the governorate centers, within the convoys of the active examination and investigation of the disease.

The ?Saber? in his statements, to send samples to the central laboratories in Cairo, and proved positive samples in two farms with avian influenza virus ?Atara? H9, a virus is weak and not dangerous.

He added that once the virus was detected, preventive measures were taken to transport the birds to be slaughtered by dedicated slaughterhouses outside the governorate, to prevent transmission or spread of the virus, and to raise the emergency of all ambushes and ports to prevent the entry and exit of any live birds except with the knowledge of veterinary medicine.
