    Pakistan finished the month of April with a heat wave that baked the southern region of the country, and one particular reading might be the hottest ever recorded on the planet in April.

    A high temperature of 122.4 degrees Fahrenheit (50.2 degrees Celsius) was reported Monday in Nawabshah, Pakistan, some 125 miles northeast of Karachi. In all likelihood, this makes the city of 1.1 million the new hottest place on Earth for any April day on record.
