Weather mystery: A stinky fog envelops Seattle area

But this mysterious odoriferous phenomenon is back and has expanded its range. Today, many residents of Bainbridge Island were greeted by the now familiar stench. Biking home this evening I was hit by it in north Seattle. And most importantly, large number of Victoria residents were disturbed by the sulfurous smell, as did some residents of Lopez Island...

Experts work to determine source of unusual odor around Puget Sound. John Langeler reports.
(KING) A lingering, unpleasant smell engulfed areas in and around Seattle, Washington Tuesday night.
Air quality experts believe the unusual odor that lingered over parts of the Puget Sound is tied to recent flooding and air inversions.
"It's pretty unknown why it smelled last night," said Erik Saganic with the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. "We could be seeing odors of bogs and general mucky areas that could be emanating odors."...
