    At least 3 dead in quake in eastern Turkey

    (CNN) -- At least three people died and 50 more remained buried under rubble from a magnitude 5.7 earthquake that struck eastern Turkey Wednesday night, officials said.

    Eleven other people were rescued, state-run television TRT said.

    The epicenter was 16 kilometers (9 miles) south of the town of Van, the U.S. Geological Survey said, and its depth was 4.8 kilometers (3 miles). The quake struck at 9:23 p.m. (2:23 p.m. ET), it said.

    At least 18 buildings have collapsed in Van, including two hotels and one school, TRT said...

    Another earthquake hits eastern Turkey

    A magnitude-5.6 quake has struck eastern Turkey just 2 weeks after a deadly tremor hit the region. Local media say 3 people are confirmed dead.

      Turkish quake: Japanese aid worker among the dead

      VAN, Turkey (AP) -- Japanese aid worker Atsushi Miyazaki came to Turkey in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake last month, tasked with assessing damage and distributing relief supplies to survivors. Then he too became a victim of Turkey's treacherous fault lines on Thursday, fatally injured when a hotel, weakened by the earlier tremor, collapsed in a second quake that killed at least 11 others.

          Turkish quake death toll rises to 26

          VAN, Turkey (AP) -- Rescuers on Saturday recovered the body of a second journalist missing underneath the rubble of an earthquake-shattered hotel as the death toll in the second earthquake to hit eastern Turkey in about two weeks rose to at least 26.

            Turkish PM visits quake zone in eastern Turkey

            VAN, Turkey (AP) -- Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited thousands of quake victims in eastern Turkey on Saturday, where two deadly quakes over the last two weeks have killed at least 640 people and left many homeless.

              Japanese serve curry to raise funds for Turkey's quake victims

              ISTANBUL (Kyodo) -- A group of Japanese volunteers living in Istanbul on Monday held a gathering serving Japanese curry to raise funds for those affected by major earthquakes that hit areas near the eastern Turkish city of Van last month and early this month.
