On Tuesday, April 20, an explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon sunk the drilling rig, causing oil to spill into the Gulf of Mexico. During this COCA conference call, a CDC subject matter expert will discuss current and anticipated health hazards associated with the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and how appropriate interventions can be implemented to protect the health and safety of the public. 2010 Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill
CDC and ATSDR responders are in close communication with other federal agencies and with state health departments, and will work together to recommend measures to protect the public?s health. The agencies are working with the states, emergency responders, and medical professionals to track any health concerns that may be related to the oil spill.
