    Japan's industrial output up in October

    .....The expansion was due to an increase in automobile production for the US and domestic markets. Some auto components were manufactured in Japan instead of in Thailand due to the flooding there. This also contributed to the expansion.

    Manufacturers start cleanup in flood-hit Thailand

    BANGKOK--Clean-up and repair work is under way at seven industrial complexes in Thailand inundated for more than a month of flooding. But it could take up to half a year for production to return to normal levels in some of the areas.

    The death toll from the worst flooding in years rose to 602 with two people missing, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reported on Sunday.

    Officials said that 125 districts in 17 provinces remained flooded, with five million people affected.
