    Diarrhoea affects 1,000 more in 48 hours

    Diarrhoea affected at least 1,000 more people in 10 districts in last two days due to excessive seasonal heat and drinking of unsafe water, health experts said Thursday.

    The Health Control Room at the directorate general of health told reporters that over 1,000 people were affected in last 48 hours in the districts of Pabna, Jessore, Feni, Narayanganj, Thakurgaon, Rangpur, Gazipur, Bogra, Naogaon and Jhenidah.

    Health experts said that due to acute shortage potable water people in many areas were drinking unsafe water.

    At least 333 diarrhoea patients received treatment in two days until Thursday afternoon by International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh, doctors said.

    They said 456 diarrhoea patients were admitted at the ICDDR,B hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday and 500 on Tuesday..

    They said that they expected more patients to seek treatment by night.
