    The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    In response to the recent influenza situation in Hong Kong, the Hospital Authority (HA), in close collaboration with the Centre for Health Protection, has activated the enhanced monitoring system for severe influenza patients staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals.

    The HA spokesman today (February 14) announced that there were 12 newly confirmed Human Swine Influenza (HSI) cases who are being treated in intensive care units in the past three days.

    Details of the cases are listed in the attached table.

    Furthermore, a 61-year-old male patient with a history of chronic disease and experiencing flu-like symptoms was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital on February 11 (Friday).

    He succumbed the following day (February 12) due to continued deterioration of clinical condition.

    Test results of the patient proved positive to HSI.

    The hospital would like to express their deep condolences to the patient's family.

    As at 2pm today, there were a total of 37 influenza patients staying at the intensive care unit of public hospitals, including the above 12 newly confirmed HSI cases.

      In response to the recent influenza situation in Hong Kong, the Hospital Authority (HA), in close collaboration with the Centre for Health Protection, has activated the enhanced monitoring system for severe influenza patients staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals.

      The HA spokesman said at 2pm today (February 15) that there were no newly confirmed Human Swine Influenza (HSI) cases in intensive care units.

      A total of 29 influenza patients were still staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals.

      Ruttonjee & Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals earlier announced that a 62-year-old critical HSI male patient succumbed yesterday (February 14) due to continued deterioration of clinical condition.

      The hospital would like to express its deepest condolences to the patient's family.

        The HA spokesman today (February 16) announced that two newly confirmed Human Swine Influenza (HSI) cases had been admitted to intensive care units, including a 53-year-old male patient at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and a 30-year-old male patient at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, who are both in critical condition.

        Both patients are under Tamiflu treatment and on ventilation support.

        The hospitals will continue to closely monitor their condition.

        Furthermore, a 69-year-old male patient who had confirmed positive for influenza A and was staying at Queen Elizabeth Hospital with critical condition, succumbed on February 14 due to continued deterioration of clinical condition.

        The hospital expressed deep condolences to the patient's family.

        As at 2pm today a total of 30 influenza patients were staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals, including the above two newly confirmed HSI cases.

          The HA spokesman today (February 17) announced that there were two newly confirmed Human Swine Influenza (HSI) cases admitted to intensive care units, including a 56-year-old male patient at Ruttonjee & Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals who is now in critical condition.

          Another patient is a 13-month baby girl who is staying at United Christian Hospital, and is in serious condition.

          Both patients are under Tamiflu treatment and the 56-year-old male patient requires ventilation support.

          The hospitals will continue to closely monitor their condition.

          A 72-year-old female HSI patient in critical condition succumbed today (February 17) at Tuen Mun Hospital due to continued deterioration of clinical condition.

          A male patient aged 84 with past good health was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on January 17 due to influenza like symptoms.

          He succumbed today due to continued deterioration of clinical condition.

          He had tested positive for influenza A.

          The hospitals would like to express deep condolences to the patients' family.

          As at 2pm today, a total of 29 influenza patients were staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals, including the above two newly confirmed HSI cases.

            The HA spokesman today (February 18) announced that there were three newly confirmed Human Swine Influenza (HSI) cases, including a 58-year-old female HSI patient at Prince of Wales Hospital and a 56-year-old female HSI patient at Tuen Mun Hospital.

            Both patients are in critical condition.

            Another patient is a 29-year-old female patient at Caritas Medical Centre who is now in serious condition.

            Three patients were prescribed with Tamiflu.

            Furthermore, three HSI patients were succumbed due to continued deterioration of clinical condition, including a 71-year-old male HSI patient at Prince of Wales Hospital, a 83-year-old male patient at Queen Mary Hospital and a 64-year-old female patient at Tuen Mun Hospital.

            The hospitals expressed their deep condolences to the patients' family.

            As at 2pm today, there were a total of 27 influenza patients staying in the intensive care unit of public hospitals, including the newly confirmed HSI cases.

              The HA spokesman today (February 21) announced that there were four newly confirmed Human Swine Influenza (HSI) cases over the past 72 hours (from 2pm on February 18 to 2pm on February 21), including a 63-year-old female patient at Princess Margaret Hospital, a 55-year-old male patient at Caritas Medical Centre and a 48-year-old male patient at Yan Chai Hospital.

              The three patients are in critical condition.

              Another patient is a 29-month-old girl at Queen Elizabeth Hospital who is in serious condition.

              All patients were prescribed with Tamiflu.

              A 63-year-old female HSI patient in critical condition at Ruttonjee & Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals succumbed today due to continued deterioration of clinical condition.

                The HA spokesman today (February 22) announced that a 56-day-old baby boy at Prince of Wales Hospital was confirmed Human Swine Influenza (HSI) today. He is in stable condition.

                Furthermore, two male patients (72-year-old and 73-year-old) at Princess Margaret Hospital were succumbed due to continued deterioration of clinical condition.

                The 73-year-old patient was confirmed HSI while the other one was confirmed influenza A. The hospital expressed deep condolences to the patients' family.

                As at 2pm today, there were a total of 23 influenza patients staying in the intensive care unit of public hospitals, including the above newly confirmed HSI case.

                        The hospital will continue to closely monitor his condition.

                        Furthermore, a 56-year-old female patient confirmed with HSI earlier at Prince of Wales Hospital succumbed yesterday (March 3) due to continued deterioration of clinical condition.

                        The hospital would like to express deep condolences to the patient's family.

                          In response to the influenza situation in Hong Kong, the Hospital Authority (HA), in close collaboration with the Centre for Health Protection, has activated the enhanced monitoring system for severe influenza patients staying at the intensive care unit of public hospitals. The HA spokesman today (March 7) announced that there were three newly confirmed Human Swine Influenza (HSI) cases over the past 72 hours (from March 4, 2pm to March 7, 2pm), including a 59-year-old male patient at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and a 62-year-old female patient at Princess Margaret Hospital. Both patients are in critical condition with ventilation support. Another one is a 9-year-old boy at Kwong Wah Hospital. He is in stable condition. The hospitals will continue to closely monitor their condition.

                          Furthermore, a 61-year-old male patient at Kwong Wah Hospital and a 69-year-old male patient at Prince of Wales Hospital, both were confirmed HSI cases, succumbed due to continued deterioration of clinical condition. The hospitals expressed deep condolences to the patients' family.

                          As at 2pm today, there were a total of 9 influenza patients staying in the intensive care unit of public hospitals, including the above newly confirmed HSI cases.

                                The HA spokesman today (March 10) announced that two newly confirmed influenza cases were admitted to intensive care units, including a 67-year-old male patient at North District Hospital who was confirmed with Human Swine Influenza. He is in critical condition and requires ventilation support. The other is a 24-year-old female patient at Queen Elizabeth Hospital who was confirmed with Influenza A. She is in serious condition.

                                Both patients were prescribed with Tamiflu.

                                The hospitals will continue to closely monitor their condition.

                                Furthermore, Tuen Mun Hospital earlier announced that a 21-year-old female HSI patient succumbed today due to continued deterioration of clinical condition.

                                The hospital expressed deep condolences to the patient's family.

                                As at 2pm today, a total of nine influenza patients were staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals, including the two newly confirmed influenza cases above.
