    Bird tested positive for H5N1 virus in HK

    Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said Saturday that the Peregrine Falcon found in Tin Shui Wai earlier this week was confirmed to be H5N1 positive after a series of laboratory tests.

    he bird was collected by AFCD staff on Tuesday in Grandeur Terrace upon a public referral and died the following day.

    A department spokesman reminded the public to observe good personal hygiene.

    "They should avoid personal contact with wild birds and live poultry and clean their hands thoroughly after coming into contact with them," he said.
    A number of birds had been tested positive for H5N1 virus in Hong Kong since the beginning of this year.
