    Hong Kong has recorded 37 cases of dengue fever this year so far, including three local infections, with the city’s health experts expecting an uptick in the coming months.

    The Department of Health said on Thursday Hong Kong saw 34 imported cases of dengue fever and three local infections as of July 17, including two patients living in Tin Shui Wai.

    “Many of the imported cases have been to Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand,” said Tonny Ng, principal medical and health officer of epidemiology at the department.​..

    ​Update on dengue fever

    The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health today (August 23) reported the latest number of dengue fever (DF) cases, and urged the public to maintain strict environmental hygiene, mosquito control and personal protective measures both locally and during travel.

    From August 16 to yesterday (August 22), the CHP recorded seven DF cases, including six imported cases; the patients had been to the Philippines (four cases), Singapore (one case) and Vietnam (one case) respectively during the incubation periods. The other one was thelocal DF caseannounced on August 16.

    As of yesterday, 51 cases of DF, including 47 imported and four local cases, had been recorded in 2024. In 2023, 62 imported cases of DF were recorded.​..

      ​Update on dengue fever

      The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health today (October 10) reported the latest number of dengue fever (DF) cases, and strongly urged the public to maintain strict environmental hygiene, mosquito control and personal protective measures both locally and during travel.

      From October 4 to yesterday (October 9), the CHP recorded eight imported DF cases; all of the patients had been to Guangdong Province, among which five visited Foshan, two of them visited Guangzhou and one visited multiple cities in Guangdong Province during the incubation periods.

      As of yesterday, 85 cases of DF, including 81 imported and four local cases, had been recorded in 2024. In 2023, 62 imported cases of DF were recorded.​..

        ​8th November 2024 – (Hong Kong) The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health reported an uptick in dengue fever (DF) cases today, urging the public to enhance environmental hygiene, mosquito control, and personal protective measures both locally and while travelling.

        From 1st to 7th November, the CHP confirmed six imported cases of dengue fever. These patients had travelled to Guangdong Province—specifically Foshan (four cases) and Zhongshan (one case)—as well as India (one case) during their incubation periods.

        As of yesterday, a total of 131 dengue fever cases have been recorded in Hong Kong for 2024, comprising 127 imported cases and four local infections. This marks a significant increase compared to 2023, which saw 62 imported cases. The rise in cases has raised concerns, as the World Health Organization warns of a global surge in dengue fever incidence over the past two decades, presenting a substantial public health challenge...
