Whooping cough--a "cough" that cannot be ignored
According to the "National Overview of the Notifiable Infectious Diseases Epidemic" released by the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention, in the first quarter of 2024, 58,990 cases of whooping cough were reported nationwide, nearly 29 times the number in the same period in 2023 (2,050 cases). The military's infectious disease surveillance shows that there were 6 cases of whooping cough in the first quarter of this year. The incidence rate of whooping cough has shown a significant upward trend, with the incidence rate among adolescents and adults increasing significantly. This disease, which was previously thought to be only suffered by young children, is showing an "ageing" trend. Therefore, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reminds everyone that they need to pay more attention.
