"Another challenge is wild boar and soft ticks, which are natural hosts of ASFV and are widely distributed in China. We need to know if ASFV has taken root in wild boar and ticks after continuous outbreaks."

As of Friday, 41 cases of ASF had been reported in China, resulting in more than 100,000 pigs being culled, Vincent Martin, FAO representative in China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, said in an exclusive interview with China Daily.

Chinese Authorities Suspected of Hiding Possible Spread of African Swine Fever
                        By Sunny Chao, Epoch Times
                        November 4, 2018 Updated: November 4, 2018

A recent video circulating online that shows empty stands at a town market in China?s south-central Hunan Province is being interpreted as an indication that African swine fever (ASF) may have spread there.

Chinese authorities, however, appear to be seeking to keep the public in the dark.

A video posted to Twitter on Oct. 28 claimed to show a large-scale agricultural trading market in Jishou County, Furong Township in Hunan Province. There, the stands were all full, except for those where pork is sold, according to the Twitter post.
