  • African swine fever suspected to be in animal feed in China

    BEIJING (Reuters) - Major Chinese animal feed maker Tangrenshen Group reported on Sunday that feed produced by one of its units was suspected to have been contaminated with African swine fever, raising fears of its spread further across the country.


    The suspected contamination occurred during inspections after an outbreak of African swine fever on a farm in Qingyang county located in the eastern Chinese province of Anhui.

      China's Tangrenshen says African swine fever not found in its animal feed


      BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese animal feed maker Tangrenshen Group said on Tuesday that tests on feed made by one of its units had ruled out the presence of the deadly African swine fever.

      The company said on Sunday that authorities in eastern Anhui province had reported finding what they suspected was African swine fever in feed made by its 51 percent-owned subsidiary, Bili Meiyingwei Nutrition Feedstuff.

      In a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Tangrenshen said authorities had notified its subsidiary on Monday afternoon that their tests had failed to confirm the presence of the deadly disease in any of the raw material or finished product samples collected last week.

            The Information Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs was released on November 15th , and an African swine fever epidemic occurred in Lishui County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province.   11 Yue 15 Ri 10 , the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas to the control center reported Chinese animal epidemic prevention, the China Animal Health and Epidemiology Center (National Center for Exotic Animal Disease Research) confirmed, Xishui County in Huanggang City of Hubei Province, a farm happen African swine fever. The farm has 636 pigs , 24 diseases and 13 deaths .
            Immediately after the outbreak, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs sent a steering group to the local area. The local government has started the emergency response mechanism as required, and adopted measures such as blockade, culling, harmless treatment, disinfection, etc., to treat all the sick and culled pigs harmlessly. At the same time, all pigs and their products are prohibited from being transferred out of the blockade, and pigs are prohibited from being transported into the blockade . At present, the above measures have been implemented and the epidemic has been effectively disposed of.

                                  The Information Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs was released on November 21 , and the Hefei District of Huaihua City, Hunan Province, detected the African swine fever epidemic.   11 Yue 20 Ri 19 , the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas to the control center reported Chinese animal epidemic prevention, the China Animal Health and Epidemiology Center (National Center for Exotic Animal Disease Research) confirmed , Huaihua City, Hunan Province, Cape Town a farmers out investigation African swine fever. Up to now, the farmer has kept 73 live pigs , with 61 diseases and 55 deaths .
                                  Immediately after the outbreak, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs sent a steering group to the local area. The local government has started the emergency response mechanism as required, and adopted measures such as blockade, culling, harmless treatment, disinfection, etc., to treat all the sick and culled pigs harmlessly. At the same time, all pigs and their products are prohibited from being transferred out of the blockade, and pigs are prohibited from being transported into the blockade . At present, the above measures have been implemented.
