Our province held its first multi-department emergency response drill for imported infectious diseases at ports of entry.

On June 29, the 2026 Shanxi Province Taiyuan Port Imported Infectious Disease Emergency Response Drill, jointly organized by the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention, Taiyuan Customs, and Taiyuan Municipal Health Commission (Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention), was held in Taiyuan City.
This drill was the first multi-department emergency response exercise in the province specifically targeting imported infectious disease outbreaks at ports of entry. The drill simulated the entire process of handling a suspected imported infectious disease case discovered on a flight, followed by a debriefing and training to address weaknesses. Through this simulated scenario, the drill further refined mechanisms, trained personnel, and addressed shortcomings, ensuring a rapid, standardized, and effective response to any sudden outbreak. Disease control departments and centers at all levels will use this drill as an opportunity to further strengthen coordination with customs and other departments, continuously optimize the joint prevention and control mechanism for infectious diseases at ports of entry, and continuously improve the province's ability and level of response to imported infectious diseases. This will resolutely safeguard the port quarantine line, providing a solid public health guarantee for protecting the health and safety of the people in the provincial capital and serving the province's goal of becoming a new highland for inland opening-up.
