PLA Daily News (by Qiu Huanren and special correspondent Wang Xuechao): May 12th this year marks the 18th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day. On May 11th, the 965th Hospital of the Joint Logistics Support Force, in conjunction with relevant local departments and hospitals, conducted a disaster relief drill. Military and civilian personnel simultaneously received disaster information through an emergency command platform, jointly dispatched rescue forces, and achieved seamless coordination across the entire chain, from accident reporting, initial response, triage of the wounded, to evacuation and treatment.
During the drill, after community workers discovered a gas leak in a residential area, they immediately called the police and assisted in evacuating nearby residents. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene to control the fire and break down obstacles. Upon receiving a disaster relief request from relevant departments, the 965th Hospital of the Joint Logistics Support Force immediately activated its emergency plan and quickly dispatched an emergency medical team composed of key personnel from the emergency department, orthopedics department, and anesthesiology department to the scene for rescue.
Upon arriving at the scene, the emergency medical team quickly performed CPR on a critically injured person while simultaneously monitoring their vital signs. In a drill simulating the evacuation of multiple injured individuals, military and civilian medical personnel worked together to quickly complete the identification, injury assessment, and securing of 10 injured individuals into vehicles.
"Disaster relief is very different from routine emergency care. Only through regular practical training can we be deployed effectively, reach the scene efficiently, and provide effective rescue in critical moments," the hospital's leadership explained. They have collaborated with relevant departments to revise and improve 14 types of disaster relief plans, taking into account the local social conditions and public sentiment, to ensure rapid response and efficient coordination among multiple forces during disaster relief operations.
