  • China - SIchuan province reports first official H7N9 cases: 2 cases - February 3, 2017

    CHENGDU, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Sichuan Province on Friday reported two human H7N9 avian flu cases.
    It is the first time that such cases have been reported in the province.
    The two patients are currently stable but still in critical condition.
    Local authorities have taken disease control measures.
    At least ten people have died from the virus since the start of the year, according to disease control centers in Henan, Guangdong and Hunan provinces.
    H7N9 is a bird flu strain first reported to have infected humans in March 2013 in China. It is most likely to strike in winter and spring.

      Reporters on the 3rd from the official website of the Sichuan Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission was informed that the province's Suining Pengxi confirmed two cases of H7N9 bird flu, which was first discovered in Sichuan human infection with H7N9 avian influenza.

      The two patients were diagnosed from Suining City, Sichuan Pengxi, currently two patient's condition stable, but still critical. 111 close contacts were not found abnormal.

      Reporters learned that, after the confirmed cases, the Sichuan Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission immediately sent by the Emergency Management Office responsible person led, Sichuan University, West China Hospital, Provincial People's Hospital, the provincial expert group provincial disease prevention control center experts went to cities and counties to guide the work, local government law launched a public health emergency contingency plans, health planning, animal husbandry and other related departments to strengthen joint prevention and control.

      At the same time, relevant departments of the patients live, chicken circle homes, bazaars and medical institutions for treatment of patients who were cleaning and disinfection treatment and environmental remediation, to reduce the risk of infection, the cumulative environmental disinfection area has reached more than 6.3 million square meters .

      According to reports, the highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry because of its rapid spread, against big, high mortality, are classified as Class A OIE animal diseases, China will be listed as a class of animal diseases. Human infection H7N9 Avian influenza is a human acute respiratory infection caused by H7N9 avian influenza virus.

          As for one of the two cases from Sichuan who was already on our list, I found a report on Suining News saying he is discharged from hospital and went back to home.
          u-v. 2 new cases reported by Sichuan province. Both are in stable but critical condition, Suining City, Sichuan province


          Sichuan's first Case was discharged from hospital.
          This year's First Sichuan H7N9 case was discharged from Hedong Branch Hospital of Suining Central Hospital (Suining city's infectious disease hospital) on Feb. 28 morning after getting 36-days continuous treatment and get back home.
