    CHP closely monitors two additional human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Mainland


    The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) is closely monitoring, as of yesterday (May 16), two additional human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Jiangsu and Guangdong according to the latest reports of the Mainland health authorities.

    The patient in Jiangsu is a 66-year-old man while the patient in Guangdong is an 86-year-old man who lives in Meizhou. They are now hospitalised for treatment.

    A total of 425 human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) have been confirmed in the Mainland, including:
    1. Zhejiang (138 cases),
    2. Guangdong (107 cases),
    3. Jiangsu (54 cases),
    4. Shanghai (41 cases),
    5. Hunan (23 cases),
    6. Fujian (22 cases),
    7. Anhui (14 cases),
    8. Jiangxi (eight cases),
    9. Beijing (four cases),
    10. Henan (four cases),
    11. Guangxi (three cases),
    12. Shandong (three cases),
    13. Jilin (two cases),
    14. Guizhou (one case, imported from Zhejiang) and
    15. Hebei (one case).
