CHP notified of additional human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Mainland


The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) received notification last night (May 12) of an additional human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) in Hunan affecting a woman aged 74 from the National Health and Family Planning Commission. She is now hospitalised for treatment.

A total of 422 human cases of avian influenza A(H7N9) have been confirmed in the Mainland, including:

1. Zhejiang (138 cases),
2. Guangdong (105 cases),
3. Jiangsu (53 cases),
4. Shanghai (41 cases),
5. Hunan (23 cases),
6. Fujian (22 cases),
7. Anhui (14 cases),
8. Jiangxi (eight cases),
9. Beijing (four cases),
10. Henan (four cases),
11. Guangxi (three cases),
12. Shandong (three cases),
13. Jilin (two cases),
14. Guizhou (one case, imported from Zhejiang) and
15. Hebei (one case).
