If confirmed by WHO as a case from SIchuan province - this will be the first H7N9 case from that province as indicated by the latest Hong Kong CHP which is a cumulative H7N9 list by province. Sichuan province does not appear on the list. link
There was a confirmed H5N6 human case in Sichuan province in 2014:
1) Male, 49, in hospital April 23, 2014 with severe pnuemonia, diagnosed May 3, died May 6, Nanchong City, Nanbu County, Sichuan province Death

Shanghai Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission December 29 notification, Shanghai reported a case of human infection with H7N9 virus confirmed cases.
Patients, Liu, male, 34 years old, Sichuan Jiangdong membership. Diagnosed on December 29, is now actively in the treatment.

SHANGHAI -- A new human H7N9 avian flu case has been reported in Shanghai.
The patient is a 34-year-old man from Southwest China's Sichuan province. He was confirmed as infected with the virus on Thursday, according to Shanghai Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning.
The man is being treated in hospital.
Another human H7N9 avian flu case was reported on Dec 22 in Shanghai. The patient, 45, is from Nantong city, Jiangsu province.
H7N9, a bird flu strain most likely to strike in winter and spring, was first reported to have infected humans in China in March 2013.
