    BEIJING, April 2 (Reuters) -

    * China reported an outbreak of a highly pathogenic strain of H5N1 bird flu at a farm in northeastern Liaoning province, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said on Tuesday

    * The case occurred on a farm with 24,500 birds but the ministry did not specify if they were chickens or other types of poultry...

    The Department of Agriculture Office of Rural 4 Yue 2 release, Xinmin City of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province occurred in poultry H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic bird flu.

    On April 2 , the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs received a report from the China Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center and was diagnosed by the National Avian Influenza Reference Laboratory. H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemics occurred in poultry raised by a farmer in Xinmin City . The farmer kept 24,500 poultry and died more than 1,000 pigeons . After the outbreak, according to the relevant local prevention plans and technical specifications, a really good job epidemic disposal, poultry have been culled 25,472 birds, and all the dead poultry have been culled safe disposal.
