    ...The suspected migratory

Yesterday, Guangdong Province, He Jianfeng, director of Communicable Disease Prevention, said after the WHO's research, people infected with avian influenza viruses from birds.
People infected with avian flu is rare, and it is distributed. The public need not panic. "The current study shows that people are not so susceptible to this virus, now consider the hypothesis of a relationship of some human genes."

The man with the bird flu is an outbreak of avian flu in Hong Kong has to do with it? Jianfeng said that at present can not confirm whether the relationship between the two.
However, note that there are two migratory routes in Guangdong.
    一。
One is the East coast, including Shenzhen, Shantou, Shanwei. The other one is from Jiangxi to Nanxiong to Guangzhou, Guangdong, the central movement of this line. Hong Kong and Shenzhen in Guangdong, the central migratory online.

New Year's Day is around the peak of wild bird migration. "We are investigating the man found him five days before the onset of the rest, because the sprained foot, and not to drive. But there is a characteristic that he lived more in the environment of migratory birds, exercise every morning to the field, that also many places of migratory birds. "Jianfeng said he was now highly suspicious of migratory birds infected with the virus may be a relationship. http://translate.googleusercontent.c...U-USh5394eP7OA

While there have been 2 recent native Hong Kong wild birds that have tested positive for H5N1 here and here, I not think this is conclusive proof that the bus driver in Shenzhen was exposed to H5N1 through wild birds.

In November an FAO adviser was quoted in the China Daily newspaper, (H5N1) "seems to exist widely in the poultry markets, particularly in South China, posing a tough challenge for the nation's epidemic intervention work." Also mentioned the article was the spread of the H5N1 clade 2.3.2.1 in live poultry. It is not clear whether the current poultry vaccine used in China fully protects against this clade.

In addition, as a bus driver, he was exposed to the public at close range in a contained vehicle. Limited human to human transmission can not be ruled out in this case.

Confusing situation again. Treyfish's post above (#16) suggests that the bus driver was not working and home on sick leave for a sprained foot for 5 days before onset. He would have had limited exposure from other bus riders if this is the case. Importantly though, if he had a sprained foot he probably would not have been exercising outdoors where he might have been exposed to H5N1 from infected migratory birds.

I agree. It is an inconsistent story.

Problem is he may have stepped out onto stoop, balcony or whatever to smoke a cigarette, put his hand on the railing then wiped his mouth, nose or eyes. If an infected bird left a dropping on the railing he inadvirtantly infects himself. Of course, he may have also visited the wet market while being off work due to the sprain. We just don't know at this point. I can't rule either scenario out until we see the clade or if others are infected.
Please do not ask me for medical advice, I am not a medical doctor.
