    The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) today delivered a 110,000 Nicaragua H1N1 influenza vaccines, which caused 11 deaths and more than two thousand infections last year in the country, officials said.

    The donation is the first batch of a total of 550,000 doses that Nicaragua will receive this year, worth about four billion dollars, said the OPS representative, Jorge Luis Prosperi.

    Health Minister Guillermo Gonzalez announced that next Monday will start the vaccination, which will be prioritized for pregnant women and health workers.

    In the act of delivery of vaccines, the U.S. ambassador, Robert Callahan, presented a donation of 117,600 syringes for the implementation of the dose.

    The swine flu, which reached the country in June last year, to 2175 people infected, of whom 11 died, according to official figures.
