Nicaragua on alert for recurrence of H1N1 virus in Venezuela and Mexico

Nicaragua on Wednesday triggered a program of health surveillance and immunization of vulnerable groups, following a recurrence of the H1N1 virus in Mexico and Venezuela, countries where he has left 7 dead, sources of health.
"We monitor all cases of acute respiratory illness at the airport and people from Venezuela," he told the press the director of surveillance at the Health Ministry, Edmundo S?nchez.
The measures include vaccination against H1N1 to persons and seniors with chronic illnesses may be more vulnerable, the official said.
The Ministry of Health has more than 60,000 doses of vaccine against H1N1 influenza virus, according to official figures.
Preventive actions are because "we have a threat in the north and one in the south" by the reappearance of influenza cases in Mexico and Venezuela, Sanchez said.
Reports of the respective health authorities in Mexico and Venezuela show that the H1N1 virus has caused four deaths in Mexico and three in Venezuela, even as an emergency rule two years ago.
