    Tegucigalpa, May 6 (EFE) .- The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Honduras today confirmed the death of four people in this Central American country due to influenza A virus and recommended adopting preventive measures, particularly vaccination. The representative of the PAHO in Honduras, Piedad Huerta, told reporters that so far this year confirmed four cases of death from influenza type A H1N1. According to local media, one of the cases was registered in a private hospital in Tegucigalpa, while the others occurred in a state hospital, also in the capital.

    Five deaths due to H1N1 flu in Honduras

    The Ministry of Health has reported that the number of deaths from influenza H1N1, rose to five, reporting, 116 cases nationwide. The health authorities will not yet declare an epidemic of H1N1 influenza in Honduras. According to the executive summary that will be released today, there are 12 cases of one-year-old patients with H1N1 and eight affected with type B influenza, for a total of 20; from one to four years of age with H1N1 24 patients and with influenza type B 22 cases for a total of 46. From five to 14 years there are 10 cases of H1N1 and patients with influenza type B, 19 people for a total of 29; from 15 to 49 years of age, 10 cases are reported with H1N1 and with influenza type B, five affected for a total of 15.

      Health studies sixth death from influenza A

      Health authorities in Honduras are investigating the death of a sixth patient in a hospital allegedly because of influenza A, a virus that has affected some 116 people in the country this year. The death in a Tegucigalpa medical center of a man, whose age and name were not specified, is the sixth case of deaths related to this virus, National Health Surveillance coordinator Homer Mej?a told reporters. He noted that he is still waiting for laboratory results to confirm whether the death of the sixth person can be attributed to the virus. The death would have occurred the previous week and would have been caused by complications not specified, according to local media.

            10-month-old boy dies for alleged H1N1 influenza

            A minor of 10 months of birth died on Wednesday night in the Regional Hospital of the South of Choluteca, supposedly because of the influenza A H1N1 virus.
