Dominican Republic confirms first A/H1N1 flu death

HAVANA, June 5 (Xinhua)
Dominican Republic confirmed on Friday the first death of the A/H1N1 flu in the country, becoming the fourth country in Latin America to report a flu death.
According to reports reaching here from Santo Domingo, Dominican Public Health Ministry also reported 11 new cases of the H1N1 flu, bringing the total in the country to 44.
The ministry said that in the case the patient who died was a 17-year-old woman with 27 weeks of pregnancy and she had complications with diabetes and tuberculosis, which produced her death.
According to the authorities to the moment only three patients have been hospitalized.
Meanwhile, authorities also said that the lab tests continue with 638 samples of possible cases at the specialized lab they opened on Wednesday.
