Panama to Host Avian Flu Meeting
Panama, Jun 3 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of international bodies and 21 Central American ministers of Agriculture, Health and Environment will gather in Panama City June 6-8 to discuss regional preparations against avian flu.
President of the Republic Martin Torrijos will attend the opening of the meeting on strategies to prevent and face a potential outbreak of the virus.
Participants, including SICA (Central American Integration System) Secretary General Anibal E. Quinonez and ministers from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Belize and the host country, are to exchange ideas on steps taken so far in their countries to face the disease.
