The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported 12 new cases of monkeypox, detected from March 1 to 8, raising the figure to a cumulative 189 cases in the country.
In a report from the Minsa Department of Epidemiology, it stands out that of the 189 accumulated cases, 23 patients are active cases, of which 19 are in home isolation and four are confined in health facilities; while 166 finished their isolation without mishap.
Of the accumulated positive, some 187 are men and two women; and the distribution of cases, remain in the age range between 19 to 59 years.
The World Health Organization (WHO) highlights that monkeypox is a disease that can cause rashes, similar to pimples or blisters, often accompanied by flu-like symptoms (fever, headache, malaise) its transmission can given by eruptions on the skin or mucous membranes (eyes, mouth, nose, vagina, anus). The Ministry of Health of Panama, through its Epidemiology department, reported eight new cases of monkeypox, (corresponding to the week of February 25 to 1) for a total of 118 accumulated cases, throughout the country.
Confirmed cases, to date, have been registered in the provinces of Los Santos, Veraguas, Chiriquí and Panamá Oeste; and in the Health regions: Metropolitan, San Miguelito and Panamá Norte.

Monkeypox cases in Panama are on the rise. The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported this Tuesday, November 15, seven new cases of monkeypox in the country.
With these new infections, the total number of accumulated cases amounts to 33, according to the Department of Epidemiology.
Of that global number, 17 are active, fulfilling their respective isolation. Meanwhile, three are hospitalized due to their clinical condition and risk factors.
