          Costa Rica reports 8 new cases of COVID-19; total rises to 911 with 600 cured

          The Costa Rican Ministry of Health confirmed 8 new cases of COVID-19 in the country this Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 911. Compared to yesterday, the percentage change in confirmed cases was 1.65 %.

          Confirmed cases are registered in 70 cantons of the 7 provinces (Los Chiles and Sarapiqu? are added to the list of cantons) corresponding to 807 adults, 48 ​​older adults and 56 minors. Of the confirmed cases, 421 women and 490 men. Also, 751 are Costa Rican and 160 are foreigners.

          Compared to yesterday, the cases varied: one more in San Jos?, Moravia, Goicoechea, Los Chiles, Sarapiqu?, Naranjo, La Cruz, Ca?as and Abangares, and a confirmed case was also eliminated from Heredia. Of today's new cases, 4 are imported, 3 are local with a defined link, and one is under investigation.

          There are 600 people recovered (8 more than yesterday) and 10 deceased, so the number of active cases (currently infected) is 301. The number of active cases was maintained compared to the previous day. 65.86% of confirmed cases are recorded as recovered.

          Of the recovered cases 292 are women and 308 are men, by age there are 541 adults, 30 older adults and 29 minors.

          There are 14 people hospitalized (two more than yesterday), of which four people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (one more than yesterday) with ages between 37 to 66 years.

          The number of cases discarded because their COVID-19 test was negative rose to 14,865. In total, results were reported from 486 people analyzed in the last 24 hours, with which the accumulated total of people tested (confirmed + discarded) is 15,776.

          The total number of tests accumulated to date (which includes discarded, confirmed, reconfirmations, follow-ups, etc.) is 22,554, so 625 more tests were reported than yesterday.

          To date, the country has rejected the entry of 46 positive carriers for COVID-19 and those who were asymptomatic. Another 15 had to be received and attended in Costa Rica because Nicaragua did not allow them to cross the border.

          Of the 903 confirmed cases in Costa Rica as of yesterday, 30.4% are cases directly related to a trip (imported); 24.5% originated from work ties and 20.3% from the family circle.

          13.3% are due to a social coexistence space (meetings or gatherings outside of family coexistence), 3.5% are classified as “others” (for example, the apprehension center), while 8% of All cases are investigated the epidemiological link.

          Regarding the atypical case released yesterday, the Minister of Health explained that the person tested positive for the first time in a test carried out on March 27, registering as a link a trip abroad. Subsequently, on April 9, a sample was processed to register negative, but 24 hours later a new test was positive, so on April 14, a new sample was performed to register negative and 24 hours later a new positive.

          On April 21 and April 22, he obtained two negative tests, however, he maintained loss of smell and taste and presented a fever on May 14, so a new diagnostic test was performed, which tested positive.

          The Minister was emphatic that the case is under study and follow-up in a medical center and that no classification can be issued yet.

                      Costa Rica reaches a thousand cases of COVID-19 after registering 16 new cases

                      The Ministry of Health of Costa Rica confirmed this Thursday 16 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of cases to 1,000. Compared to yesterday, the percentage change in confirmed cases was 1.63 %. 84 days passed before the country reached that "barrier".

                      Confirmed cases are registered in 72 cantons of the 7 corresponding provinces (Zarcero is added to the list of cantons with positive cases) to 867 adults, 53 older adults and 80 minors. Of the confirmed cases, 470 are women and 530 are men. Likewise, 817 are Costa Rican (+13) and 183 are foreigners (+3).

                      Of today's cases, six have an identified link and five of them already had a sanitary isolation order; three are imported (two for repatriation) and the other 7 are under investigation. The cases are divided: four in San Ram?n, two in Zarcero, two in Liberia, one in Alajuela, one in Los Chiles, one in Naranjo, one in San Carlos, one in San Jos?, one in Quepos, one in Sarapiqu? and one in Bagaces.

                      There are 646 people recovered (7 more than yesterday) and 10 deceased, so the number of active cases (currently infected) is 344. The number of active cases rose compared to the previous day. 64.60% of confirmed cases are recorded as recovered.

                      Of the recovered cases 312 are women and 334 are men, by age there are 583 adults, 31 older adults and 32 minors.

                      There are 12 interned persons, of which two are interned in Intensive Care Units with ages between 55 to 64 years.

                      The number of cases discarded because their COVID-19 test was negative rose to 16,726. In total, results were reported from 374 people analyzed in the last 24 hours, with which the accumulated total of people tested (confirmed + discarded) is 17,726.

                      The total number of tests accumulated to date (which includes discarded, confirmed, reconfirmations, follow-ups, etc.) is 24,897, so 459 more tests were reported than yesterday.

                      To date, the country has rejected the entry of 46 positive carriers for COVID-19 and those who were asymptomatic. Another 15 had to be received and attended in Costa Rica because Nicaragua did not allow them to cross the border...

                          The Ministry of Health of Costa Rica confirmed this Saturday 25 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of cases to 1047. Compared to yesterday, the percentage change in confirmed cases was 2.45 %.

                          Confirmed cases are registered in 72 cantons of the 7 provinces corresponding to 905 adults, 55 older adults and 87 minors. Of the confirmed cases, 491 are women (+11) and 556 are men (+14). Likewise, 841 are Costa Rican (+11) and 206 are foreigners (+14).

                          New cases are distributed: ten in San Ram?n, four in Pococ?, three in Los Chiles, three in San Carlos, one in Montes de Oca, one in Puntarenas, one in Heredia, one in Sarapiqu?, one in Alajuela. Of the new cases announced today, 14 have a definite link, 4 are imported and 5 are under investigation. 12 of the 25 newly infected people already had a sanitary isolation order.

                          There are 658 people recovered (5 more than yesterday) and 10 deceased, so the number of active cases (currently infected) is 379. The number of active cases rose compared to the previous day (+20). 62.85% of confirmed cases are recorded as recovered.

                          Of the recovered cases 315 are women and 343 are men, by age there are 592 adults, 32 older adults and 34 minors.

                          There are 15 people hospitalized (two more than yesterday) of which four are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (two more than yesterday) with ages between 55 to 72 years.

                          The number of cases discarded because their COVID-19 test was negative rose to 17,686. In total, results were reported from 467 people analyzed in the last 24 hours, with which the accumulated total of people tested (confirmed + discarded) is 18,733.

                          The total number of tests accumulated to date (which includes discarded, confirmed, reconfirmations, follow-ups, etc.) is 26,073, so 570 more tests were reported than yesterday.

                          To date, the country has rejected the entry of 46 positive carriers for COVID-19 and those who were asymptomatic. Another 15 had to be received and attended in Costa Rica because Nicaragua did not allow them to cross the border.
