Montreal public health officer Dr. Ren?e Par? has been tracking influenza outbreaks in Montreal for 18 years, and she's never seen anything like it.
This year's flu season isn't just unusual, Par? says. It's unprecedented.
"It's very intense. We have, like, 20 outbreaks a week, and this is a lot of stress for the system," Par? told CBC in an interview...
...Most years, both kinds of influenza ? Type A and Type B ? crop up at different times, with Type A typically occurring in December and Type B in March.
But this year, both are hitting Quebec at the same time...
