RESPIRATORY WATCH Week 15 (April 10, to April 16, 2011)
Summary of Nova Scotia surveillance findings, for the period ending April 16, 2011:
Localized influenza activity in DHAs 1, 3 and 9. No activity is reported in all other DHAs.
There were 15 lab confirmed cases of influenza A (7 not yet sub-typed and 8 seasonal H3) this week.
Other respiratory pathogen activity continues. Positive results were received for parainfluenza, metapneumovirus, coronavirus, rhinovirus and RSV.
For this reporting week, outbreak activity was noted in 3 long term care facilities.
