    Section 1: Summary

    During Week 1, there was influenza activity in all Alberta health zones.

    North
    Sporadic activity. Six influenza A (1 H1N1) isolates in two infants,
    and four adults.
    Edmonton
    Sporadic activity. Nineteen influenza A (2 H1N1) isolates in five
    infants, two children under 19 years of age, and 12 adults.
    Central
    Localized activity. Influenza A outbreak reported in a seniors lodge.

    Fifteen influenza A (1 H1N1) isolates in one child under 19 years of

    age and 14 adults
    Calgary
    Localized activity. Influenza A outbreak reported in a an acute care
    facility. Nineteen influenza A (6 H1N1) isolates in two infants, two
    children under 19 years of age and 15 adults. Five influenza B
    isolates in an infant, a child and three adults.
    South



    Sporadic activity. Two influenza A (1 H1N1) isolates in adults.

      During week 3, increased influenza activity was seen across all Alberta health zones. Almost two-thirds (7/11) of the influenza B cases reported this week are among school aged children.

                      Localized activity. Influenza‐like‐illness outbreaks were reported in three
                      schools, two were confirmed to be influenza B. Fourteen influenza A (11
                      H1N1) isolates in three infants, one child under 19 years of age and 10
                      adults. Twenty influenza B isolates in four infants, 12 children under 19
                      years of age and four adults.
                      Edmonton
                      Sporadic activity. Fifteen influenza A (6 H1N1) isolates in six children
                      under 19 years of age, eight adults and one person of unknown age.
                      Twenty‐two influenza B isolates in nine children under 19 years of age
                      and 13 adults.
                      Central
                      Sporadic activity. Eighteen influenza A (3 H1N1) isolates in child under 19
                      years of age, 16 adults and one person of unknown age. Nine influenza B
